January 13, 2007I would check for dead or corroded grounds. Try starting it and keeping it running (turn idle up if you have to) and pull both the battery terminals off at the same time. Does your truck die? If so then it is the battery. Take the alternator back to where you got it and have them test it or switch it out for another one. Make sure all connections in the wires from and to the alternator and battery are corrosion free and good and connected. If you have a test light or volt meter test all the connections and wires with it to see if your getting any current through them. I can't think of anything else for now. Good Luck
January 14, 2007With a new battery you need to check the alt. again here is a good link for checking both. Especially the regulator portion regarding terminal "F"
If you have a warranty on the alternator you could just return it or have them check it out. A bad battery can damage a new alternator. If it is damaged hopefully they will warranty it. If all checks ok I would check the wiring for defects.
